Summer Park Get-Together - LAST one!!

Good evening everybody!

We hope that you are all enjoying the end of your summer vacations!

Are you looking for something to do tomorrow to end the summer with a splash – bring the kids to Chinguacousy Park for our last Park Get-Together of the summer!
Get out of the house  - let the kids burn off some steam, meet other families of multiples and relax before the school rush starts again!

We'll meet at the play structure at about 11 am and then you can branch out into smaller groups if you'd like. If it warms up enough, some of us may put our little ones in the splash pad, keeping our fingers crossed...

Wednesday August 29, Chinguacousy Park

Located at 9050 Bramalea Rd, just north of Queen Street.  Features: Splash Pads, large play structures, petting zoo, pony rides ($), minigolf ($), walking paths. Free admission, free parking.

Remember to bring bathing suits, sunscreen and towels for the little ones!  Also pack a picnic lunch and lots of water to beat the heat!

Hope to see many of you there tomorrow,

Your Social Committee

Scotiabank Game Changers

Please join the Twins Plus Association of Brampton in supporting a great cause and helping Multiple Births of Canada receive $100,000!! We just voted for Kimberley Weatherall, the Acting Executive Director at Multiple Births Canada - she is a nominee in the Scotiabank Game Changers Contest where the winner will receive the grand prize for a charity of her choice. Kim's leadership, energy and dedication drive others to want to make a difference for Canada's multiple-birth community. When the organization struggled for lack of volunteers and financial resources, Kim found the support and people we need to keep going, and grow even stronger and she keeps doing it!! She has also volunteered on an International Level with the International Council of Multiple Birth Organizations (ICOMBO). Please help us by voting daily and getting us the money we need to help Multiple Births families across Canada!

From Multiple Births Canada: MAKING A DIFFERENCE AWARDS EXTENDED!!!

Multiple Births Canada has asked that we share with our chapter that they have extended the deadline for the Making a Difference Awards Nominations to August 15th, 2012

Please see the Facebook message below from Kimberley with the request.

For those of you not familiar with the Awards, they are awards that are handed out annually from MBC to many people within our community for the service they have given to their communities, organizations or individuals.  The Local, National and International awards were created for the express purpose of acknowledging our "unsung heroes". All the volunteers – at every level - donate their energies and resources, often for many years, without thought of reward or compensation. The Making a Difference Awards is our way of thanking them for their contributions to the multiple-birth community.

Check out Making A Difference on the MBC website and read about all the deserving past MADA winners, including detailed articles and photos.

LOCAL AWARD - Is there someone in your chapter or community who has "gone beyond the call of duty"?

NATIONAL AWARD - Is there someone at the National level who has inspired you or your chapter?

INTERNATIONAL AWARD - Is there someone at the International level who helps to ensure the professionalism of Multiple Births Canada or is working in an area that has significant impact on our Canadian families?

MEDIA AWARD - Is there a media outlet or journalist that went above and beyond over the last year to create awareness for multiple-birth issues, your chapter or for MBC?

DIONNE AWARD - Do you know of an ADULT multiple(s) who has "made a difference" on behalf of the multiple-birth community?

CORPORATE AWARD - Is there a business professional or company that has made a significant contribution to the well-being of multiple birth families?

The recipients of these awards will be honoured at the 2012 MBC Annual General Meeting and Retreat in September, and will receive an engraved plaque and certificate. You do not need to attend to nominate or receive this award. We want lots of nominations this year, so give it some thought and send in those nomination forms!

Remember: without volunteers, our local chapters and Multiple Births Canada would never be able to touch as many lives. Let's recognize those people who "Make a Difference"!

Please email Theresa, Making a Difference Chair at makingadifference@multiplebirthscanada.org
