Multiple Births Awareness Day 2013 at Canada's Wonderland!
Put on your most comfy walking shoes, gather your whole family and all your friends and come join us on Sunday June 2nd as we celebrate Multiples Births Awareness Day 2013! After last year’s great turn-out – we decided there's no better way to celebrate this year’s National Multiple Births Awareness Day (NMDAB) theme than with our wonderful Multiples community again! Don’t miss this great opportunity for your family to meet other multiple-births families from across Southern Ontario and maybe even some from further out!  Join us for a fun and thrill packed day at Canada's premier amusement park – Canada's Wonderland!

The theme this year - You're not alone! Canada's multiple-birth community is here to support you - is the perfect theme when spending the celebration of this great day with the multiple birth community; the same community that is made up of great mentors, experienced parents and new parents as well – all of which are here to support each other through this busy but wonderful life that we all live.  By sharing our experiences and meeting locally and even when possible with far-away members – like at Wonderland! – we are supporting each other and helping to strengthen each other’s ability to be the best-informed and capable parents of a multiple birth family.

The Twins Plus Association of Brampton has arranged for this memorable DAY complete with discounted tickets for Admission and a buffet lunch in the Courtyard for all our ticket holders.   Your buffet lunch will be served in the Courtyard from 3:30 - 4:30 pm.  The Menu includes: Regular & Vegetarian Hot Dogs & Burgers, Grilled Chicken, Macaroni & Cheese, 3 Assorted Salads and Hot & Cold Beverages.  The invitation is extended to our sister chapters of Multiple Births Canada and all multiple birth families across Canada!  Let's make this a HUGE event - discounted ticket prices can be extended to our friends and family as well so ask everybody you can think of!

Bill C-464 Update

Unfortunately the vote in the House of Commons March 27th was NO from the Conservatives, so the private member's bill will not be going any further. Multiple Births Canada will continue to speak up about the needs of multiple-birth families in Canada, and hope that in the future the government will give more consideration to amending the EI regulations to help parents with multiple births or multiple adoptions.

From MBC's Executive Director Kimberley Weatherall: "The vote has been completed for Bill C-464 and for those that are not aware it turned out to be a no vote. It was very close though. A couple of Conservatives stood in support, but not enough. We would like to thank everyone for their support. We are not done, we will continue to make sure people learn about this inequality. With the extra effort of multiple-birth families and their friends in the last few days, weeks and months many more people know about this very important cause. Thank you!"

Here is Multiple Births Canada's press release for March 27th, expressing disappointment that Bill C-464 was defeated, but hoping for future changes to the EI regulations that will help multiple-birth families in Canada.
